There's something about Kate

I was listening to the White Stripes today, in particular their 2003 hit cover of Burt Bacharach's "I just don't know what to do with myself" from their album "elephant" which also included the fantastic "seven nation army" and "The Hardest Button to Button" and remembered what an amazing video there was for "I just don't know what to do with myself".
Not only is the filmography of the video breath taking but I think it shows Kate Moss off in such an amazing light. Kate Moss has always been someone beautiful in my mind (as well as everyone else's) but in this video you notice that not only does she look like an angel but she also had an abundance of sex appeal, her pole dancing makes you want to take up classes and take all your clothes off and she captures her audience like a hollywood actress.
It is this way of smoldering her onlookers that has made Kate Moss the face that she is today... she is by no means the most beautiful woman in the world or the most intelligent but she is a performer, on the catwalk, walking down the road or even in a photograph. I was lucky enough to be shown the mock up for Mario Testino's upcoming book documenting photograph's of Miss Moss through out the years on my last visit to the Taschen book store ( you must go if you haven't already... I'm not much of a reader but I could sit there oogling through every photography book in the shop and eyeing up Helmut Newton among other's 10 thousand pound books for days) and you can really see her personality shine forth in her photo's. So to give you all a gentle reminder of just how amazing she is follow the link below for the White Stripes video... awe-inspiring

Wear Me

First and foremost, I would like to apologise for the laziness of my posting...i am sorry and do realise that it has now been something like 6 weeks since I wrote anything, not to make excuses but I've undergone a writers block for the last month or so, but I’m over it now and so regular posting back to normal !

Moving on...I am kind of bored of all the hype around Alice in wonderland, don't get me wrong I think Tim Burton is genius and I thoroughly look forward to going to see it this Saturday but I'm talking about the fashion statements that come out of it. Being mainly a black wearing girl I'm starting to feel a little queasy about all of the tea cups and bows consuming me as I walk into (nearly) every retail store. Uni-clo are the official sponsors and although I have to give it to the brand for practical clothing and staple basic essentials, I think they should steer away from the patterned and decorative stuff because it look a little cheap and not cheerful. However... I have taken a serious liking/desire towards the collection that Irish born bad boy of the jewellery world Tom Binns has put together in honour of the film.

Binns became a household name when Michelle Obama wore one of his designs to a Whitehouse gala event in 2009 and he has taken off with more than a boom since then. Binns first played around with Disney in a protest against the Iraq war making his statement by using a collection named "Amo" in which he paired Donald Duck, Minnie and Mickey Mouse with bombs and grenades as I'm sure your thinking much to Disney's displeasure, so what was Binns doing in Disneyland? Well creating a fabulous yet small collection of Walt Disney signature jewellery and a rather more extensive collection for Disney Couture sold online at http://www.asos.com/.

I am lusting over the Pearl and Lace necklace in his signature collection but at £750...I'm thinking it's a bit of a stretch although I simply cant stop picturing it making an amazing collar to any basic..ahhhh. The collection is also a little bit of a stretch from Binns' usual design's but that’s what ya gotta love, holding on to see what comes out of his brain next!

On the Subject of jewellery I am awaiting a certain silver skull ring with Ruby Eyes from the one and only stupendous Stephen Webster from a certain someone...kind of a platonic wedding ring but I will have to get onto that relationship another time....

X

p.s. i couldnt find an image of the Tom Binns necklace I was talking about so pictured above it his teacup one, the Stephen Webster ring (minus ruby eyes) and an image from alice in wonderland.

The femme fatale of footwear?

The other day whilst flicking through the pages of Grazia I stumbled upon the most amazing pair of green snakeskin stiletto's by shoe designer Charlotte Olympia. I have seen her shoes before and thought that they were gorgeous but I had never really given THAT much attention to them so I decided to do my research.Hot new footwear label Charlotte Olympia is the brainchild of Cordwainers graduate and London IT girl Charlotte Olympia Dellal. The half-Brazilian, half-English designer is inspired by the glamour of the 40s and 50s and her statement making block color sandals and quirky-cool shoe boots are already a hit with style setters Kate Moss and Sienna Miller. Needless to say the heels are virtiginous but they have such a maticulous approach to detail in particular the signature gold spider web on the sole of each shoe. I have been coveting the collection for days and am in desperation for the Genie wedges (shown center above) from the showtime collection but i could settle for the majority of the label at any means. Well it's one way to make heads turn...

Back for now

I'm back and so so sorry I havn't written any thing is ayyyges. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. I spent a week in New York which was amazing as always. I always find when im walking around someone i just write loads of random shit down on my blackberry, and in NYC I definately had a lot to make a draft of so I thought i might put down some of them and maybe help you next time your in the city in a sort of daily cady way....

Eat: Monkey Bar- Located uptown and opened by out home boys Corbin and King of The Ivy and Wolsely...you already know its good. Don't be thrown by the decoration in the front room...the tables clothes are all wrong but you can look past that when you go in to the back the decoration sorts itself out and the food is unbelievable.

Sleep: Grammery Park Hotel- I am going to write about the top city break destinations so I won't go into it now but all I have to say is that yet again Mr Shreger has most definately come out tops. I stayed at the Pierre this year on 61st and 5th which was gorgeous and home to the lovely new Caprice but I'm in love with grammercy.

See: If you are planning on visiting NYC any time soon make sure you go to the Tim Burton exhibition at MOMA. It opened just after thanks giving and remains open until May. The exhibition contains all of Burtons perplexed creations and is vast...ques are a bit of a nightmare so get there early.

and finally shop: Of course Im not going to run through them all and tell you about my purchases but here are a few: Rugby-I know its a branch of Ralph Lauren and it conventional but their sweaters are the best and their are some really cute things to mix up.
Olive and Bettes-Thrifty, fun bold stuff..great accesorries
generally every where in NOHO makes me really happy...

I WILL write in a couple days time, take care 'till then x

Sorry about the length of this post
