It's the most wonderful time of the year

It's that wonderful time of year when all the Christmas lights are up, presents are looming around the corner and the weather is that perfect mix of cold air with blue skies. I have always been a massive fan of early December that is with the exception of the first ten days when I am at school. I love putting on long socks, boots, jumpers and coats and watching the world go past blissfully. It may be the most expensive time of the year but boy is it worth it. On of my all time favourite things about November/December are the red cups at Starbucks. I have no idea why but they make me feel very blithe! Below is a list of my favourite thing's to do in London during Christmas:

1. Ice skating at Somerset house. I think that Somerset house is one of the most beautiful buildings and surrounded by the massive Tiffany themed tree, oversized Tiffany box and the smell of mulled wine is my idea of complete bliss!
2. Sitting in Sloane Square and watching the buzz go past. It has the most elegant and beautiful Christmas lights.
3. Shopping or window shopping on Mount Street, Bond Street and in Harvey Nicks (avoid Oxford Street at all costs.)
4. Watching Gossip Girl. Particularly the episodes which are filmed around Christmas, top ones being "Roman Holiday" and "Hi Society"
5.Going to Winter wonderland and eating the waffles

So wrap up warm, tis' the season...

What a revelation!

On Saturday I stopped in to Whistles in Chelsea to check out what newly appointed cheif executive Jane Sheperdson had done with the place. I have always quite like Whistles in a sort of smasual (smart casual) stay safe kind of thing to go to an interview in but still look like your not wearing high street if ya get what I mean! But my opinions were completely changed when I walked into a store filled with well made, fashion forward, high quality, distinct pieces which are also affordable. Jane Shepherson was the fomer brand director for Topshop and is credited with being the leading British proponent for fast fashion after the vast damand for "boho chic" in 2004-5. Under new direction Whistles is now begginig to reclaim it's roots as being an intependant, stylish and uber cool boutique. I loved this silk biker blouse which could be worn under a coat in the winter or as a leather alternative in the summer. My eye was also caught by this purple mock Herve Leger body con dress, I love the zips that run up the sleeves and think it is an exquisite colour my favourite item were a pair of soft black harem pants complete with visible gold zips....awesome.

Needle and Thread

There are some people who have the ability to make me laugh anytime and anywhere. My best friend Laura being one of them. I took this photo on one of the rare occasions when she was laughing from something I had said or done. It is very rare to find someone who you are able to act like a five year old with and connect on such a level with where you could most likely live in a white box with some cigarettes and juice boxes and live happily ever after. Hold on to these specials tight, regardless of the colour of your box or your chosen items. So Laura (as I know you will be reading this) I appreciate you too much to even comprehend and I want to say Thankyou, just for being you.

I dream of Edie

Today I watch Factory Girl today for the eighteenth billion time but this time I decided to do a little research. So we all (should) know who Edie Sedgwick was, a model, socialite, actress, sortakindatillshegotcutoff heiress and most famously Andy Warhole's muse. My first impression on watching this film is who the hall wouldn't want to be Edie she is intruiging, happy-go-lucky and to say the least pulchritudinous. She is a girl with balls and has nothing to hide. As the film progresses you see Edie as this lost and ironically "poor" little rich girl pirouetting into a pool of drugs. As onlookers we look at people like Edie at the downfall of her life as inferior, deficient when really the actions of these people are all causes of their predecessors and of incidents past. Edie Sedgwick suffered sexual abuse from her father from the age of eight, was sent to a psychiatric ward under claims of being dangerous to society and had suffered two suicides by her brothers so can we blame her for getting lost in translation? She may have died a drug addict but she also died a ledgend. Someone who could wear a leotard down the street and transform it into something socially excaptable, someone who could die her hair silver and be followed by thousands of teenagers just dyying to know what it's like to be like Edie. I for one think its sad, her life that is. She was a beautiful, charismatic woman torn apart by vices which she aquired through no means of her own. I strongly suggest having a look at Ciao! Manhattan a beautiful and Insightful documentary on a fragile and intellegant woman. So today I dream of Edie.

Enough said

My friend Tom sent this to me in detention...it made me smile.

Losing my religion...

I have studied Theology since a very young age and could probably quote 1/3 of the Bible and name 50 scholars and philosophers without thinking about it and yet I really dont know where I stand with my own beliefs. My Father is a practising Jew and I went to a Jewish school for two years but my Mother is protestant and I have been at a Christian school for the last five years but her dad (aka my Grandpa) is Jewish...and you think your confused? I could say I was a soft compatabilist and a libertarian yet when it comes to my religion well to say the least im a bit discombobulated. On one hand I feel Jewish, there is something very zealous-like about having Judaism in ones blood and I think that the Jewish way of life is one that is very deferential. But...I have been made to go to chapel every sunday since I was 13 and I think that good old JC is a top guy (sound like I'm from Manchester there "top"). I am also often seen sporting numerous rosaries around my neck. Above is a picture of some random religious métier (just that which i found in my dorm at school by no means all of it!) that I have collected over the past few years...love the kitchness of naf icons etc!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

One of the greats

Every so often I am going to write about people that are true inspirations to me and young people who I think NEED to be heard or seen.I would like to share with the world my favourite (not so well kept) secret; Sebastian DeSouza (aka Seb but he will always be Sebastian to me).He is very English, very well spoken, very Withnail and I.

Sebastian is only 16 years old but not only would he be able to finish a botle of whisky with my Grandpa and hold up an intellectual conversation with an 80 year old MP he also happens to be THE best actor I have ever seen in my life. Im not talking Brad or Johnny... I'm talking Redford. I first saw Sebastian perfom in 2006 where he played Puck in "A Midsummer Nights Dream" and he took mine (and the rest of the audiences) breath away. But that was nothing compared to his interpretation of Morris from "Good" was ASTOUNDING. I'm telling you people...this boy can act. He is also a marvelous friend.

I have known Sebastian for four years now and he has never let me down, always supported me and he is just one of those fucking cool people you just have to know and love. Watch out world because this might be the most amazing thing to hit you since Neil Armstrong landed on the moon in 1969.
